Jess and Natalie talk with Lynn Chatfield, Mary Beth Bisinger, and Danielle Norris about ways to incorporate occupation in occupational therapy for older adults with dementia. We discuss the dementia process, assessment approaches, and client-centered interventions appropriate for different levels of function.
Natalie and Jess talk with Jeff Loveland about his experience with caring for his father with dementia. Jeff is an occupational therapist, and brings a unique perspective from his experience merging these two roles. Jeff shares his experience with managing care and communicating with family members. He also discusses managing transitions in care in making tough decisions as his father's condition progressed.
Natalie and Jess are joined this week by occupational therapist Sabrena McCarley and founders of the Living in Place Institute, Louie Delaware and Erik Listou. We discuss the role of OT in helping older adults age in place through safe home modifications and adaptive equipment.
